An instructional video I did on how to hold the blade and apply joint compound to the surface being skim coated. Its best to use about a 30 degree angle when pulling off on the surface and going over the material lightly but firm. This is the second coat, so I wanted to be smoother then the first coat.

I use a high powered drill to mix the dry or pre-mix plaster with. The extension to the drill is called a “paddle” it is a tool used to mix plaster with. Either dry mix or Premixed Joint Compound
